In my last blog, I shared my theory about the 6-week countdown having hopefully now started towards a potential reopening of nkd and other such businesses.
For me, this means that I’m starting to feel the pressure a bit! From a business perspective, I’ve tried really hard to look at fundamental operating aspects of nkd that can be improved upon during this unique period of opportunity. As all existing nkd customers will know, we love to get feedback from our clients on all things positive and negative, and I hope you also know that we do actually listen! So once we’re allowed to start trading again, you’ll see that there will be some changes to our business which I really hope you think are for the better. More information on some of those will follow in coming weeks…
And then from a personal perspective, we already had my 5k running challenge and our 9-year old son’s Rubik’s cube mission on the go. But now that this 6-week countdown exists in my own head (rightly or wrongly), the pressure is really on! I can’t help but ask myself and my family what we will kick ourselves for not doing, once all this comes to an end, while we had the time/headspace etc.
As a result, we now have various other individual and collective missions planned in what is starting to look increasingly like a mini C19 “bucketlist”! For me, these include important matters such as my hair (!), that last half stone I’ve wanted to lose for approximately the last 10 years and the back of certain kitchen cupboards which almost certainly haven’t seen the light of day for a very long time. For the kids it includes activities such home-made pizzas and firepits. Importantly, these are mostly simple home pleasures (minus the kitchen cupboard and weightloss ones!) that we could do on pretty much any week of the year, but the reality is that we never get round to doing due to the hustle, bustle and general chaos of normal working/school life.
I truly hope that we will never see another period like this in any of our lifetimes but that does obviously mean that we need to make the most of it, while we can, while it’s happening.
So what’s on your bucketlist for the next 6 weeks?!
Think about it!
