Difference Between a Hollywood & Brazilian Wax
Brazilian and Hollywood waxes are our forte at nkd waxing. In the five years and two months since opening our salon in Nottingham and writing this blog post, we have carried out approximately 25,000 of them! However, we realise that not everyone is quite as au fait with the humble Brazilian and Hollywood wax as nkd is, so we thought we’d write this back-to-basics guide about the differences between them. Just in case any of our lovely customers who don’t currently have one are too shy to ask, and also for any potential customers out there who may also be too shy to enquire!
What is a Brazilian Wax?
A Brazilian wax is where all hair is removed from the labia, perineum and anus, or to put it another way from your undercarriage and behind! A “landing strip” of hair is left on the mons pubis (the top of your pubic bone). This is usually a strip of hair (i.e. a rectangular shape) but some customers prefer a triangle. At nkd, we measure landing strips in terms of finger widths and will always ask you how wide you would like the strip before we start to remove the hair from around it.
What is a Hollywood wax?
A Hollywood wax is where all pubic hair is removed from the whole intimate area, including the labia, perineum and anus, as well as from the mons pubis. So to put it another way, absolutely all hair is removed from on top, underneath and around the back, leaving you 100% bare down there/as naked as the day you were born!
What about Male Brazilian and Hollywood Waxes?
The above treatments describe a female Brazilian and Hollywood wax. The male versions of these waxes are the same. This means that that all hair is removed from the undercarriage and between the buttock cheeks, with a landing strip/triangle left at the front in the case of a male Brazilian wax, or absolutely everything off in the case of a male Hollywood wax.
