There are so many choices of lash & brow treatment out there these days, it’s impossible to know what’s best! We’re confident you’ll have such a positive experience with nkd that you’ll want to come back again and again to stay smoother for longer between appointments. By rebooking with us you can get up to 20% off each treatment.
We require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice (or more time if possible) to cancel or change your appointment. If you cancel or change your appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice, or if you fail to show up for your appointment, your appointment will be charged for in full, using the card details we hold on file for you. Unless we’re able to fill your slot with another client, no refunds will be issued and no free-of-charge appointment reschedules will be made.
Any late arrivals may be offered a reduced treatment time or turned away altogether, depending on your time of arrival. No refunds will be issued in this instance. If you’re a first-time client, we ask that you arrive 5 – 10 minutes before your appointment time to fill out a consultation card. If you’re an existing clients, we politely request that you arrive 3 – 5 minutes before your appointment time to ensure a prompt start.
Minors under the age of 16 will only be able to have a treatment once we have received written approval of this from a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian must accompany the minor to the salon on their first visit. On subsequent visits, we are able to treat the minor without a parent or legal guardian present, as long as the parent or guardian has previously signed to say they agree to this.
Certain lash & brow treatments require a patch test a minimum
of 48 hours in advance. Patch tests do not have to be pre-booked and can be carried out at any time during the salons’
opening times.
Yes, absolutely! You should always receive a patch test from the salon where your treatment is carried out and don’t ever let any therapist or salon tell you otherwise! This is non-negotiable!
Please make sure that you visit our salon a minimum of 48 hours before your appointment for your patch test. You do not need to book an appointment for a patch test but please check our opening hours ahead of visiting and remember that nkd is currently closed from a Saturday evening until Wednesday morning.
It is not possible to sign a disclaimer instead of having a patch test.
It shouldn’t be a problem, no. Every new client at nkd will have a pre-treatment consultation, during which we’ll ask about your skin type and other relevant medical details, which we’ll then make a note of on your file so we can be sure to use the most appropriate products for you. We also use extremely high-quality waxes, including hypo-allergenic waxes and waxes developed especially for the removal of facial hair.
In some instances, threading may be recommended as the best mode of removing your facial hair, over waxing as threading can be better for delicate and sensitive skins.
Sometimes, the waxing vs threading debate comes down to personal choice. Both remove the hair in the same way (from the root) and can essentially achieve the same excellent results, but some clients simply prefer waxing while others prefer threading for the removal and/or shaping of their facial hair. Or as mentioned above, threading will sometimes be recommended over waxing for certain clients with particularly reactive, sensitive or delicate facial skin.
However, even if you do not consider yourself to have sensitive skin, it is critical that you think carefully about the products you use on your face at home and that you provide as much detailed information as you can on your pre-treatment consultation form and while speaking to your therapist ahead of your treatment.
For example, so many clients now have facial skincare routines which include ingredients such as retinol (Vitamin A), and/or AHAs/BHAs (including lactic acid and glycolic acid). In fact, nowadays many clients even use such products without realising it – because these ingredients are more widely used than ever, even in non-specialist/high street facial skincare!
These ingredients can be a contraindication to facial waxing, due to the fact that they can make your skin more susceptible to a temporary skinning effect from waxing. (Skinning refers to when the wax lifts the top layer of the skin, making it red and giving it a burn-like appearance). For this reason, we ask you to educate yourself about which ingredients are involved in your skincare regime and to check and update your Pre-Treatment Consultation Form ahead of every appointment you have with us (no matter how frequent!) – in case, for example, you have changed your skincare routine or products since your last appointment with us.
We can only work with what you have – not what you have already removed! So the longer you resist the urge to touch, fiddle with, or pluck/tweeze your brows ahead of your nkd appointment, the better the results from your brow appointment are likely to be. Remember that we can’t add hair back in, so if you turn up with heavily-plucked/over-plucked brows, there will be very little we can do on that particular appointment, apart from recommend the very best brow conditioners and regrowth products on the market, the best brow make-up which can give you the appearance of fuller, thicker-looking brows, and the best treatment plan for you.
Please note that it can take months (and in some dramatic cases, years) to achieve fulsome brows, especially if you have overplucked in the past. This is why we recommend that you view any brow treatment/desired brow result as a journey, which we would love to work with you on. With our expertise and specialism, and your dedication and commitment, the end result will be worth it!
Please do not come to your appointment wearing heavy make-up on the area(s) being treated. We will have to remove any make-up applied ahead of your facial wax or thread which will eat into your appointment time, Minimal/no foundation and no brow make-up is best for such days!
Make sure you are not wearing fake tan on your face/have not applied any fake tan to your face in the last week if you are having a tint as part of your facial waxing or threading appointment. Fake tan can react with tint to turn the skin green – and none of us want that as the end result!
Please try and arrive at least 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. We are a busy salon with back-to-back appointments. For any clients who do arrive late, we may be able to carry out part of the original treatment (depending on how late you are), or you will need to book – and pay for – a new appointment time. In both scenarios, the original booked appointment will still be charged in full. Remember that a lot of brow/facial waxing and threading appointments are quick by their nature, so even turning up 5 minutes late could prevent your treatment from being carried out.
Please also remember that we have a strict 24-hour appointment change and cancellation policy. Any appointments that are cancelled or changed with less than 24’ hours’ notice, and all no-show appointments, will be charged in full, using the card details we hold on file for you. Thank you for your understanding.
