Salon Manager nkd ( ) Leicester (May 2017)

nkd is excited to soon be expanding to Leicester. We’re now seeking a commercially astute Salon Manager to run the Leicester city centre site for us. Reporting to the Area Manager, you’ll be responsible for the performance, profitability and management of this prestigious Salon.

The Manager’s challenge is to achieve profitable sales, maximise booking opportunities and ensure that customers are wowed on their every contact with us. This will be achieved through tight management of your team, a laser-sharp focus on the appointment book and outstanding customer service skills. Under your leadership and with all of these ingredients in place, the success of the Leicester site will soon mimic the success of Nottingham.

Management of the therapist team is an integral part of this role. You’ll be experienced in the day-to-day management and coaching of teams, including encouraging and motivating staff to achieve their full potential. Familiar with using performance standards, you’ll be used to driving a business to achieve KPIs and be comfortable conducting appraisals and addressing performance issues.

The other critical element of the Manager role us to uphold the fantastic reputation of nkd, ensuring that our exceptionally-high clinical standards and customer service levels are maintained. This is primarily a customer-facing role and the majority of your time will be spent on front of house and reception, dealing with customers and maximising the efficiency of our computerised booking system. The Manager will therefore be the main face of nkd ( ) Leicester and will need to exhibit all of the exacting customer service standard traits that will be expected from your team.

The Candidate

You will have existing practical management and operational experience of running, or helping to run, a professional or retail site. Used to working within a busy, pressurised customer-facing environment you will be comfortable achieving KPIs, managing teams and being operationally accountable for a business.
Dynamic and entrepreneurial, you will have a high level of business acumen and a proven ability to exceed KPIs and drive continuous improvement throughout a business. Strong leadership qualities are essential; with prior management or supervisory experience and a sound understanding of how to motivate, discipline and guide members of staff. Knowledge of good HR practices and basic employment law is beneficial. Financial acumen, excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise, multitask and be unflappable are all mandatory traits! IT literacy is a pre-requisite, as are exceptionally high personal standards.
This a full-time role. The Salon Manager must be on-site during key operating times. Regular evening (until 8pm) and Saturday work is an essential part of this job.
Please note that existing Beauty Salon experience would be advantageous but not essential. However, prior experience within a similar busy and dynamic environment, and preferably one which is appointment-based, e.g. a hairdresser, leisure club, gym or similar is required.
